Our lab conducts research that encompasses networking, security, and usability. Broadly speaking, we are interested in making the Internet more secure, using technology that is easy for everyone to use.
Current projects include:
Converting certificate-based authentication into an operating system service.
Improving the usability of the authentication ceremony in secure messaging applications.
Measuring the prevalence and nature of TLS proxies and understanding user attitudes and preferences toward inspection of their encrypted traffic.
Understanding user preferences and behavior when using cloud storage services.
Supplementing the web's existing connection-based and server-based security models with content-based security.
Our lab has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Homeland Security, Air Force Research Lab, Google, and the BYU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
